The Journey
Welcome to my world of jewelry and gemology.
I’m Adrianne Sanogo, a jewelry journalist, GIA Graduate Gemologist, and trusted industry voice. My work lives at the intersection of story, science, and sparkle. Through deep curiosity and a reverence for craftsmanship, I’ve built a career exploring not just what jewelry is, but what it means.
Along the way, I’ve been proud to contribute to global conversations about luxury, ethics, and design. You may have seen my insights featured in Rapaport, National Jeweler, Gems & Jewellery, Jewelry Connoisseur, and most recently as a featured expert in the Natural Diamond Council’s new diamond learning center. My latest project is a contribution to The Jewelry Book, a beautifully curated jewelry encyclopedia and story-rich collection that delves into the emotional and cultural significance of personal adornment.
But my journey isn’t just about expertise, it’s about impact. I co-founded the Black in Jewelry Coalition (BIJC), where I proudly serve as Chair of Education, and I’m honored to be the Vice President of the newly established BIJC Education Fund, dedicated to creating and providing meaningful pathways into the jewelry industry.
At BIJC, I conceived and built the Future Jewelers Academy (FJA) from the ground up, an innovative, hands-on program designed to train and inspire the next generation of imaginative, technically skilled bench jewelers. The program launched at two sites: the Brooklyn STEAM Center (Spring 2024), funded by Jewelers Mutual, and the award-winning Baldwin High School (Fall 2024) in New York, funded by the Natural Diamond Council. In Spring 2025, the Baldwin FJA program received official citations and recognition from the Town of Hempstead and Nassau County for its groundbreaking impact on workforce development and community empowerment.
Whether I’m headlining a conference, mentoring a cohort at JCK, or mentoring emerging designers at Couture, my focus remains on driving the industry forward through education, innovation, and inclusive opportunity.
Off the clock, you’ll likely find me treasure hunting at antique stores and auctions, researching jewelry and rare gems, tracking hummingbirds, or reading a book alongside my trio of rescued pets - including a spirited Chow Chow.
This site reflects the many facets of my journey, journalism, education, forensic gemology, and advocacy. I’m so glad you’re here. Let’s explore the brilliance together.
